Aug. 20 Wipe: Karens, Workbench, Contests!
The Aug. 20 wipe brings some new updates to Blue Collar Rust.
First, the map for the Aug. 20-Sept. 3 wipe can be previewed here: http://playrust.io/map/?Procedural%20Map_4000_20200814
During the wipe VIP Members can participate in our contest to win their choice of a SteelSeries keyboard or headset. Every fifth hour logged on the server will count toward a chance to win the grand prize. The winner will be selected on Tuesday, Sept. 1, at 8:30 p.m. (ET) on our Twitch Channel.
We're also excited to announce an extra perk for VIP members: Building Workbench. This features extends the range of workbench throughout an entire building. (Building needs to have a tool cupboard in order to work.)
In addition to the VIP perk addition, we will be introducing two new plugins to the server.
Zombie Hordes: Watch out for groups of zombies roaming out of monuments in search of victims! Who knows, you might even run into a privilege of Karens looking to add to their ranks! Clans Reborn: Won't be a major difference for the average player, but will help create a cleaner system for clans. No more clan tags showing up as some players names but not others. Ability to invite alive, sleeping or dead players. Alliance ability.
Lastly, as we continue to look for ways to improve performance while maintaining the balance of what the server offers, we will be eliminating the entity limit on external walls and tool cupboards, but at the cost of eliminating quarries and pump jacks. With the addition of Teas, players are able to farm at nearly an 8x rate, and this easily offsets the loss of quarries. We also ask that clans do not build larger than necessary for the sake of keeping the entity count lower and performance better for every one else on the server. If entity counts and performance continues to be an issue we will look to institute further changes.
We hope everyone enjoys the Aug. 20-Spet. 3 wipe and we're looking forward to continue to grow the community!
